Are you a seasoned Payroll and Benefit Specialist, in Dallas, with a can-do attitude? Have you been through payroll audits and are not afraid of the terms FUTA, SUTA, and Workers Comp? Are you comfortable operating in a fast-growing and dynamic environment? Align is looking for a Payroll and Benefit Specialist and you may be just the person we are looking for.
In this newly created role you will be responsible for the management of daily payroll operations, benefits recordkeeping, and payroll compliance activities of the company via ADP. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and who is eager to continue to learn and grow with us.
Day-to-day, you’ll contribute with your expertise in onboarding new Align team members and determining the payroll ins-and-outs of in-state and out of state employees, employment work from home and fully remote rules in various states, exempt and non-exempt employees, and ensuring benefits are processed correctly through payroll. We will be relying on you to ensure payroll runs smoothly.
You will also be responsible for the bi-weekly and monthly payroll cycles, managing new and existing benefits enrollments, maintaining employee records, and various other activities and projects. You will have a great opportunity to help develop and refine payroll operations procedures, systems, and standards. You will be a part of the Accounting and Finance team and have an opportunity to get involved with other analysis and important projects. As Align grows, you will too!
The successful candidate is energetic and hands-on. This position requires excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the agility to function in a start-up environment.
Previous success in a payroll operations role (at least 2 years of experience required)
Experience with exempt and non-exempt employee roles
Experience with out of state residents and remote workforces
Proficiency in ADP or other complex payroll system (preferably Workforce Now)
Experience with multi location businesses and hourly employees
Ability to register, prepare and process documents for state income withholding tax and unemployment divisions.
Experience managing payroll aspects of workers compensation and audits.
Knowledge of benefit enrollments and exchange of data with payroll systems
Sound judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information
Natural desire to help / champion for employees.
Eager to learn, collaborative, self-motivated and self-directed.
Ability to be onsite 3-5 days per week in our corporate office in West Loop
